🐾 Two separate building blocks

Before we start the actual training, there is one important thing to know:

The Stand consists of two separate components, and we train them separately at first.

These are:

✅ the stay – the dog learns to hold the standing position securely
✅ the execution – how the dog performs the Stand and settles into the first few seconds of the position

🎯 Why train them separately?

Training both parts separately makes the exercise much easier for the dog to understand.

It also helps you progress faster, because you can focus on one clear task at a time instead of asking for everything at once.

➡️ The two parts will be combined later.

🔄 Train both in parallel

Even though we keep the exercises separate, you can train them in parallel.

That means:

➡️ one session focuses on the stay
➡️ another session focuses on the execution

This way, both parts can develop at roughly the same pace before we bring them together.

💡 What comes next?

We will first start with building a secure standing stay.

After that, we will move on to the execution of the Stand.

🐕‍🦺 Building both parts cleanly from the beginning makes the final exercise much easier to put together later.
