Different Praise Voices β Using Your Voice as a Training Tool π€
π£οΈ Your voice can influence motivation
In training, we can use different praise voices to guide our dog and influence motivation in different ways.
Your voice can be an incredibly strong training tool β if you use it consciously.
πΆ 1. The Baby Voice
The baby voice is high, emotional, playful and full of joy.
For example:
βOhhh, good boy! π₯° That was sooo good!β
Your facial expression is just as important as your voice. If you are not genuinely smiling and emotionally involved, your dog will notice.
π‘ The baby voice only works when the emotion behind it is real.
π 2. The Goal Celebration Voice
This is the voice we use when our dog has done something really, really well.
For example after:
β
a perfect down at a distance
β
an amazing jump
β
a difficult exercise executed cleanly
Then we really celebrate:
βYES!! π That was amazing!β
This clearly tells your dog:
β‘οΈ βThat was outstanding!β
π 3. The Flirting Voice
The flirting voice is similar to the baby voice, but softer, calmer and smoother.
For example:
βOhhh, such a good boy π You did that so nicelyβ¦β
It has less explosive energy, but creates more closeness and connection.
π 4. The Witch Voice
With the witch voice, we tease the dog a little to increase drive and desire.
For example, when playing with a ball, you can let the dog almost get it, tease him slightly and encourage him to try again.
β‘οΈ βCome on, try again!β
This can significantly increase motivation and drive. π₯
π² 5. The Surprise Voice
The surprise voice is short, but very effective.
If your dog is sitting next to you and you want more attention, simply look at him and say:
βWow.β π²
Sometimes that small moment of surprise is enough to bring the dog's full focus back to you.
πΎ Use your voice consciously
All of these voices are tools.
The important thing is to use them consciously, clearly and honestly.
π‘ Your dog will notice whether your emotion is genuine β and respond accordingly.
