🐾 Gradually increase the number of steps
In the next step, we slowly and carefully increase the number of steps.
The process stays exactly the same as before. The only difference is that we no longer take just one step.
Start with:
➡️ 2 steps
➡️ then 3 steps
➡️ then 4 steps
➡️ then 5 steps
Only add another step once your dog can follow confidently, stay focused and stop cleanly again.
🎯 Stay precise
Do not get sloppy now just because you are getting close to the final goal.
If five steps are working well, that does not mean you should suddenly try much more.
Keep the same sequence:
➡️ Walk your steps
➡️ Stop first
➡️ Bring the hand back under the armpit
➡️ Then reward
The reward point stays exactly where it has always been.
🧍 Keep your own movement simple
For now, your body can still stay:
✅ quite stiff
✅ static
✅ slow
We will add a more natural walking style, arm movement and speed later.
Right now, this step is only about technique.
Your dog should learn:
“No matter whether we walk 2, 3, 4 or 5 steps, I keep the same focus and the same head position.”
💡 Tip: Have someone film you if possible. This makes it much easier to compare the picture and see whether the position stays clean as the number of steps increases.
